Nurse Practitioner at U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
"Dr. Dalton started NP practice in a small family practice clinic in 2008. This developed into a house call practice serving seniors in a suburban community. Building relationships with patients and families in the home allowed longitudinal care to include palliative and hospice modalities. In 2014, Dr. Dalton became the program director and NP provider for an inpatient palliative care consult service. Patients were often transitioned to hospice in the community or managed for comfort and end-of-life care in the hospital by the consulting team. Dr. Dalton returned to federal service in 2019 to work for the Saginaw VA. In this role at the VA, he has managed patients on the inpatient hospice unit, performed palliative care consults, completed patient encounters in the palliative clinic, and provided formal and informal education on end-of-life care for staff and learners. "Dr. Dalton is also a lecturer at the University of Michigan - Flint School of Nursing, teaching topics that include ethics, gerontology, nursing theory, and palliative care."
Michelle has been a nurse for 20 years, focused on cardiac and intensive care. She obtained her NP 4 years ago, starting in Plastic surgery and, most recently, over the past two years in chronic pain management.
