The GAPNA-GLC and Madonna SON leadership will host an informative session for graduating nurse practitioners. Live and Virtual
Location:  Madonna University - WELCOME CENTER - ROOM 120

When:  March 26, Thursday evening 
Doors open at 5:30. (Light refreshments)

The event will begin promptly at 6 pm and end at 8:00 pm 

Virtual Option (you must still register)
A Zoom Link will be open 48 hours before the meeting.

The session will answer essential questions for navigating a new career after graduation:

  • Interview Processes!
  • Resume/CV Building!
  • Certifications and Board Preparations!
  • Understanding Employment Contracts!
  • Life as a New NP

6:00 pm - Welcome - Dr. Roxanne Roth - Dean of Nursing (Madonna University)
6:05 pm - I'm graduating, now what? Discussion on boards, NPI, DEA, and what to expect. (Laura Kremer)
6:30 pm - Employment contracts, things to think about. (Dave Kotzian)
7:00 pm - The New NP experience (Petrit Hila) 
7:30 pm - Networking, Policy Making, and Getting Involved as an NP (Dr. Deborah Dunn)
7:55 pm - Wrap up
  • The event will also include food, a "taco bar", and beverages.

Speakers

Laura Kremer
Laura Kremer AGPCNP-C

Laura Kremer NP-C is a certified Nurse Practitioner of adult and gerontology primary care medicine. A two time graduate of the Madonna University Nursing Program, Laura worked as a nurse for 10 years prior to becoming a nurse practitioner in 2017. With over 15 years of patient care experience, Laura takes pride in her patient centered approach. Her strong beliefs in collaboration, clear communication, and care team management help ensure a high focus on her patients.

Dave Kotzian
Dave Kotzian Attorney

A graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, and also earned his Ph.D. in Labor Economics from the University of Michigan. His practice is concentrated in employment rights litigation and counseling, and he serves as a neutral arbitrator and mediator in employment disputes. He is a former council member of the State Bar of Michigan Labor and Employment Law Section and a past chair of the Oakland County Bar Association Employment Law Committee. Mr. Kotzian is also on the roster of Neutral Employment Law Arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association. He has been selected as one of "The Best Lawyers in America" in employment law for the past ten years, and was elected as a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Attorneys. Superlawyers named him as one of the top ten attorneys in the State of Michigan for 2009-2012.

Deborah Dunn
Deborah Dunn EdD, MSN, GNP-BC, ACNS-BC, GS-C

EdD

Experienced administrator with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. Skilled in Nonprofit Organizations, private independent college education, Nursing Education, Program Evaluation, Instructional Design, and Curriculum Development. Strong education professional with a Doctor of Education (EdD) focused in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from Eastern Michigan University.
